The DS-1000 EVO is the most advanced streaming DAC we have ever designed, combining advanced technology solutions applied to the digital-to-analogue domain with our unique know-how in delivering compelling sound quality, or, as we call it, the Italian Sound.The core of the DS-1000 EVO is the Dual-Mono D/A converter design, powered by two AKM AK4493 converters to ensure the highest fidelity is always preserved during the conversion stage, with virtually zero crosstalk. Streaming is as easy as pressing play on Tidal thanks to Tidal Connect, or simply connecting your computer with a USB cable – no audio file will be a problem, supporting MQA, PCM (up to 32bit/384kHz) and DSD (up to DSD512).
Completing the design, the output stage in Class A features audio-grade discrete components selected to deliver our unique Italian sound.
STREAMING IN ULTRA-HIGH RESOLUTION
With the DS-1000 EVO, you can stream through Roon, Airplay, Tidal, MQA, Qobuz, vTuner, and Deezer. With Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect, streaming is even easier directly from within their apps.
To access your collection of digital music, stored locally on a NAS or computer, you can use any UPnP/DLNA software from your smartphone or tablet. Or simply download our app GN Control (free for iOS and Android) to control all the features and functions of the DS-1000 EVO, as well as managing your music and streaming services.
HEADPHONES AMP AND LINE PREAMPLIFIER
The DS-1000 EVO models feature a professional 6.3mm headphones output with two sensitivity levels (High/Low), a proprietary technology we developed to get the best out of your headphones. The DS-1000 EVO LINE is also equipped with a Class A preamp stage to control the volume directly in the analogue domain, which can be bypassed when the unit is set to DAC mode.

TIDAL CONNECT

Words fail me,which doesn’t help when trying to write a review. But..this is a serious slab of audio nirvana and I do find it difficult to express just how much I enjoy this streamer/preamp. Of course it’s expensive too and I,like most people,had to think long and hard about the investment. This is especially relevant given that technology has moved to the stage that there are several mid priced streamers that are superb. I have owned these and been more than satisfied. But the step up in quality was far more than I anticipated. I know Gold Note were excited by this product and with every justification . The sound is incredibly’full’,just effortless,crystal clear without brittleness,there is a space and depth that I had not experienced before. It is analytical,it rewards good recordings and points to poor mastering. If the music is rewarding then this streamer gives you that reward everytime.Of course the sound produced depends on the synergy with partnering equipment. My system is simple,deliberately so. Everything is played through Roon,either purchased Qobuz downloads or ripped CDs,and the streamer is connected to active speakers,ATC SCM40A. I have added the Gold Note PSU and the Tube,neither are essential,both add to the enjoyment of music.A few quick points to conclude.It’s built like a tank. Looks robust,expensive,pleasing to the eye,Italian design and all that.The headphone amp is exceptional,not heard better. Of course this shows the strength of the streamer as there is no partnering equipment to add or detract to the mix.Gold Note provided me with first class customer service. Upon install I had an issue with Roon integration whereby some music was muted. I received phone calls direct from Italy,many emails,and,within a week they had identified the issue and written a firmware update for all users. They take pride in their products and value the customer.This system was purchased at various stages from Igloo. Advice was always honest,based on expertise with a shared love of music. Can’t recommend highly enough.
