This configuration is 2-channel ADDA 24-192 including the superior MADI interface and an SPDIF Module supporting Coaxial, AES and Toslink inputs for MAC-PC or CD transport. However, it is upgradable to PCM 24-384, DXD and DSD support for the Pyramix Digital Audio Workstation or other DAW if required.

Given this converter is modular based there are a number of other interfaces available. For us, it’s best use was in functioning within a computer based audio system using a combination of the Weiss INT202 to convert FireWire to SPDIF, in which sonically the DAD has never been surpassed even by converters costing in excess of £15k like the DCS, Weiss, ESS and Playback Design.

DAD Module Dual AES3-SPDIF digital I-O

The Dual AES3-S/PDIF I/O module is a 2-channel (stereo) module intended for interfacing stereo input and output channels of the AX24, ADDA 2408, ADDA 2408-r and Axion. The connection is made via XLR, optical S/PDIF and Coax RCA connectors.

The Dual AES3-S/PDIF I/O module is able to interface stereo input and output channels at up to 96 kHz of sample rate in single wire format. The Dual AES3-S/PDIF I/O module is handy for easy interfacing to digital outboard equipment like DAT recorders, CD players and digital effect boxes.
